Background and Career:

Born Serena Jameka Williams on, September 26, 1981 in Saginaw, Michigan. When she was young child she moved to Compton, California with her parents where she started playing tennis at four years old. To this day, both her and her sister, Venus, are still coached by their parents. The Women’s Tennis Association currently ranks her World No.1 in women’s singles, becoming the oldest No.1 player in the WTA’s history. She is also the only female player to have ever won over 50 million dollars in prize money.

Williams has written two books, one of which was co-written with her sister: Venus and Serena: Serving From The Hip: 10 Rules for Living, Loving, and Winning (2005) and the solo autobiography On The Line.

Health, Diet, Fitness:

The tennis star’s physique is constantly on display, and her atheletic curves are also complimented by her womanly curves. But Williams says she never lifts weights to achieve her muscular toned body. Rather she does resistance training specific to tennis atheletes which would prevent her from gaining anymore muscle on her already muscular bod. Rather the star opts for a natural and healthy diet without excessive meat, plenty of green veggies, and a steady intake of water.

The star says her favourite food is her mom’s chicken with gravy and rice, but she admits to being a great cook and foodie herself. Her least favourite foods are avacados and tomatoes, especially the texture of avacados. Her favourite drinking luxury is wine, as she describes herself as a “glass-of-wine-girl”.

As of late it has been reported that the star now enjoys a vegan lifestyle and diet. She reportedly made the shift to support her sister who was diagnosed with an autoimmune illness. The sisters have tried to stick to a raw-food vegan diet as much as possible.
